Job description

We invite applications for a postdoctoral research position to develop photoacoustic/ultrasound imaging instrumentation for the breast, within a large European consortium.

You will be part of the Biomedical Photonic Imaging group of the University of Twente, which is running the European project. As a postdoc you are expected to perform research of high quality, guide PhD students, help in coordinating between partners and contribute to making the project a success. You are expected to report on your research in international scientific journals.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be an applied physicist or engineer with a PhD in biomedical optics, or photoacoustics, or ultrasound. Excellent experimental skills in these topics should have been demonstrated during the PhD. An appropriate number of high quality papers should have been published during the PhD. High creativity, excellent self-motivation and the ability to lead a small team are essential. The candidate will guide 1 or 2 PhD students and will help coordinating between various partners within the consortium. We expect the candidate to have excellent command of the English language as well as professional communication and team working skills.

Conditions of employment

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) of the Dutch Universities. Gross monthly salary depends on experience and qualifications and ranges from € 3.111,- to € 4.084,-. Additionally, the University of Twente provides excellent facilities for professional and personal development, a holiday allowance (amounts to 8%), an end-of-year bonus (amounts to 8,3%) and a number of additional benefits. The position is available from the first of January 2018.
