Job description

As the Education Service Centre (OSC) Manager for the faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences, you supervise all OSC employees. OSC provides quality educational support to the faculty in the broadest sense of the word. The OSC is responsible for quality control and improvement of initial education, making a substantive and administrative contribution to accreditation processes and external reviews, and boosting our programmes’ international profile. The OSC’s remit also includes teaching coordination activities and giving study advice, as well as managing, collecting and processing business information about the education process.

The OSC Manager supports the dean and the portfolio holder for education on all matters related to faculty education policy (in relation to institution-wide and nation-wide policy) and in activities for relevant faculty and university bodies such as the Faculty Council, the University Committee on Education and the Programme Directors meeting. The OSC Manager is also the first point of contact for BMS Programme Directors regarding programme-specific matters. The OSC Manager is supervised by and reports to the portfolio holder for operational management and the portfolio holder for education.

The Centre for Educational Support (CES) provides administrative support to the university-wide education process. The OSC Manager at the Faculty of BMS maintains a close working relationship with the CES to ensure that all coordination and consultation between CES and the Faculty of BMS runs smoothly.

Requirements

You hold a university degree and preferably have experience with educational processes. You also have an affinity for working with professionals in a university environment. You are a very experienced manager who is not afraid to engage is change processes. You are naturally adept at quickly and efficiently switching between different levels and topics of conversation and you are resilient. You are a logical discussion partner for the dean, the portfolio holder for education, the portfolio holder for operations and the programme directors. You have a critical eye, offer criticism constructively and diplomatically, have a client-oriented approach, a professional attitude and are solution-oriented. Bearing in mind the wide range of required support activities, you are able to create and maintain an efficient and constant results-oriented work programme for the Education Service Centre. Above all, you are able to manage our Education Service Centre staff with the enthusiasm and drive needed to achieve our objectives as a team.

Conditions of employment

You operate in a challenging and dynamic working environment and contribute to education policy, educational programmes and the University of Twente’s educational organization. The position of Education Service Centre Manager is for 38 hours per week. The contract is for a duration of two years initially, with the possibility of a conversion to a permanent contract for good performance. Depending on qualifications and experience, the gross monthly salary will be a maximum of €5,405 on a full-time basis, excluding 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
