Job description

The positions are part of the ERC Starting Grant NEUTRINO of Dr. Sander Wahls. Starting Grants are highly competitive and granted solely based on scientific excellence. The overarching goal of NEUTRINO is to push nonlinear Fourier transforms from being a mainly theoretical tool into engineering practice.

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who has a strong background in a field involving the analysis of data related to water waves such as, for example, wave forecasting or Tsunami detection. The successful candidate will investigate the application of nonlinear Fourier transforms, which offer unique data analysis capabilities such as the detection of hidden solitons, in her or his field of interest. No prior experience with nonlinear Fourier transforms is expected, but experience with nonlinear effects will be a plus. The research will be carried out in close collaboration with a team of currently four other researchers working on numerical algorithms and other related topics related to nonlinear Fourier transforms.
