Job description

Are you interested in doing a short research stay at a foreign university? Maybe you are currently a PhD student who would like to spend some research time at another institution?

The Computer Science Department at the University of Twente (UT) in the Netherlands is currently looking for a talented junior researcher in the intersection of Applied Cryptography and Biometrics. Funded via a collaborative research project between the UT’s “Services and CyberSecurity (SCS)” group and the “Data Science / Data Management and Biometrics (DMB)” group, we are offering a position (with a competitive salary) of up to 12 months for a visiting PhD student.

Specifications

University of Twente (UT)

Requirements

Concretely, the research project is dealing with biometric recognition in the encrypted domain and we are looking for a talented junior researcher who has expertise in the design and analysis of cryptographic protocols, is familiar with proving such protocols secure in the malicious model, and has some experience with (somewhat) homomorphic encryption schemes. Additionally, the potential candidate should have good programming skills as we aim at the implementation of a research prototype of the to-be-designed cryptographic protocols. Since these protocols will be used in the context of biometric recognition, it is of advantage if the potential candidate has been exposed to some digital signal processing in biometric systems.

INFORMATION AND APPLICATION

Interested applicants are invited to send their application together with your detailed curriculum vitae and motivation letter explaining their qualifications regarding the above described topics, before February 22, 2019.

Only online applications are considered (use the link at the bottom of the vacancy), applications by email will not be accepted. For more information please contact Prof.dr. Raymond Veldhuis (r.n.j.veldhuis@utwente.nl) or Dr. Andreas Peter (a.peter@utwente.nl).

The review of applications starts immediately and will stop as soon as the position is filled with a qualified person.

Conditions of employment

We offer an interesting temporary research position in a dynamic and international environment. The successful candidate will be provided with excellent opportunities for gaining experience and for extending his/her knowledge. You will be appointed for a period of 12 months. Depending on relevant background and experience, the monthly salary on a full time basis starts at € 2.325, gross per month.

Additionally, the University of Twente provides a holiday allowance (amounts to 8%), an end-of-year bonus (amounts to 8.3%) and a number of additional benefits.
