Are you exceptionally interested in social science, and specifically in the discipline of sociology? Is it your ambition to become a top-tier teacher and researcher at a leading university? Do you have a strong profile in the sociological study of culture in the broadest sense of the term? The Department of Sociology has an opening for a Full professor of Cultural Sociology. You will be embedded in the program group ‘Cultural Sociology’, of which the members share an understanding that the dynamics (invention, accumulation, diffusion, adjustment and dissolution) of culture are crucial to understand human social life.
What will you be doing?
You will study culture as it pertains to urgent contemporary societal issues, preferably from a comparative and historical perspective. You will display academic leadership in both research and teaching, and establish a bridge between the two other sociological research programs at the UvA. The position concerns an appointment of 38 hours per week. The starting date is negotiable. Salary depends on past education and relevant work experience, with a minimum salary of €5,582 and a maximum salary of €8,127 gross per month based on a full-time appointment for a 38-hour working week (in keeping with scale H2, as per the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities).
