Job description

The position of Senior Human Resource Advisor is located in the Office of Resources Management (ORM) one of the five support departments of the ISS. The Personnel Section of ORM consists of one other person and reports to the Deputy Rector Resources, who is member of the Institute Board.

Within the ISS management the Senior HR Advisor acts as the first point of contact for management and personnel on all personnel related matters. You advise and support the organisation in the practical application of human resource policy in an objective and consistent manner. You will also be the ISS key link for the EUR shared service centre and help review and develop the HR policy within the framework established by the EUR.

Your main tasks and responsibilities include:
•Advise and support (middle) management on human resources policy and operational matters
•Initiate and develop proposals for the ISS Board on personnel policy and tools
•Execute operational human resources activities, such as:
- recruitment and selection
of personnel
- assistance and advice on performance review and evaluation procedures
- career and mobility matters
- together with the ARBO Coordinator take on an active role in reducing sick leave and support the reintegration process
- employment contracts of Dutch and foreign staff members
• Liaise with the shared service centre at the EUR

Requirements

•HBO/university education in the area of personnel and organisation (Personeel en Arbeid
•Minimally five years working experience as HR Advisor preferably in an (international) academic setting.
•Businesslike and analytical attitude, good communication skills and proven advisory capabilities
•Knowledge of modern software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)]
•Knowledge of the personnel information system SAP-HR
•Excellent written and spoken Dutch and English
You are a hands-on person with a personality full of energy, enthusiasm, passion, integrity, tact, flexible but stable and stress resistant. You should like to take initiative and work in an international and multi cultural community.

Conditions of employment

ISS offers an initial 3 year contract with subject to performance a permanent appointment thereafter. The position is full time.
The CAO of the Dutch Universities applies, which offers attractive employment conditions.
Working conditions and atmosphere within an international multi cultural academic community are pleasant and staff turn-over is low.
Salary dependent on education and experience in salary scale 11 of the scales applied at the Dutch Universities (CAO NU). In addition there is 8% holiday and 8,3% end-of-year payment ( 2009). Contribution to travel costs home/work, ADSL, keuzemodel arbeids- voorwaarden as indicated in the CAO.

Contract type: Temporary, inirtial contract of 3 years with prospect of permanent thereafter
