Galapagos is looking for a Quality and Safety Manager in Drug Discovery - Mechelen, Belgium. The Quality and Safety Manager is responsible to ensure that Galapagos’ Drug Discovery activities at the Mechelen, Romainville and Leiden sites are quality driven and operating in a safe working environment.

The Quality and Safety Manager is responsible to ensure that Galapagos’ Drug Discovery activities at the Mechelen, Romainville and Leiden sites are quality driven and operating in a safe working environment.
- Promotes quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization
- Defines, gains agreement and implements the strategies, policies, procedures and plans required to create and maintain high customer satisfaction
- By understanding drug discovery working practices and procedures and identifying improvement areas
- By persuading line management and staff of the need for high customer satisfaction achieved through high quality output
- Defines, gains agreement and implements the strategies, policies, procedures and plans required to provide and maintain a safe and secure working environment
- Ensures that the organization meets all legal obligations with respect to quality, health and safety
- Monitors and reports compliance with quality, health and safety policies
- Investigates all actual and potential breaches of quality, health and safety policies so that corrective or preventative action can be taken
Requirements
- University degree in scientific discipline
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience. Broad knowledge of drug discovery
- Experience with Quality, Health and Safety management
- Good knowledge of Good Research Practice and/or certified quality management systems (Business Excellence; ISO 9001)
- Good knowledge of legal framework for health and safety
- Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills
- Effective communication at all functional levels
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Fluent in English and able to work in French, both spoken and written
- Willing to spend a significant amount of time on all Galapagos sites
