Job description

The Molecular Epidemiology Section and  Department of Molecular Cell Biology

are looking for a Postdoc or PhD student to join the team investigating genetic factors influencing drug response in elderly type 2 diabetes patients. The project will use a combination of high density genotyping arrays and next generation exome sequencing to identify relevant genetic variation and, by subsequent functional studies, the mechanisms that determine extreme good or bad response to glucose lowering medication.

Requirements

We are seeking a candidate with a PhD or Master’s degree in biomedical/biopharmaceutical sciences, or similar, and a good knowledge of state of the art genetic and genomics techniques (including NGS and array based genotyping). Skills in using bioinformatic and statistical tools in genetic/genomic research are essential and knowledge of molecular biology and biochemical techniques is a pre. You should be enthusiastic, creative and a team player with a flexible work approach.

Conditions of employment

As Postdoc, you will be employed on the basis of a 28.8-hour week. Appointment is for four years. Your salary will depend on your qualifications and experience, with a maximum of € 3,899 gross per month based on a full time position (scale 10, CLA for University Hospitals). As PhD student, you will be employed on the basis of a 36-hour week. Appointment is for the duration of the degree. Your salary will depend on your qualifications and experience, with a maximum of €2,107 gross per month in the first year, increasing progressively to a maximum of €2,700 gross per month in the fourth year (scale for trainee research assistants, CLA for University Hospitals).

Contract type: Temporary, Appointment is for four years.
