As a scientific programmer or software engineer, you implement Web Services based on SOAP and REST for algorithms and databases developed by the BioSemantics research team. The services are the building blocks of data analysis pipelines involving text mining. You support investigators and you participate in (inter)national collaborations of the BioSemantics research team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who:
Experience with software design, development frameworks, and working in a (medical biology) research environment is preferred.
Location: Leiden, the Netherlands
You will be employed on the basis of a 36-hour week. Appointment is for two years. Your salary will depend on your qualifications and experience, with a maximum of € 3,513 gross per month based on a full time position (scale 9, Collective Labour Agreement for University Hospitals). For very experienced candidates a maximum gross salary of € 3,860 per month is possible (scale 10).

BioSemantics group
You are a member of the BioSemantics group, part of the Department of Human Genetics of the LUMC. The group is a collaboration of the Department of Human Genetics in Leiden and the Department of Medical Informatics of the Erasmus University Rotterdam. It develops methods that help interpret biological data based on a special form of text mining and data integration. The group in Leiden focusses on applications of BioSemantics methods to help elucidate molecular mechanisms of various common and rare diseases.
