The analytical Scientist develops, validates, executes and transfers analytical assays. This includes analytical support, critical (method/data) validation and method transfers. You will identify opportunities to improve, implement new (analytical) technologies, participate in (international) analytical teams and deliver technical reports for regulatory purposes.
• MSc in analytical chemistry or biochemistry (or BSc with more than 5 years of relevant laboratory experience);
• Practical experience with immunoassays (preferably to identify and characterize complex glycoproteins and antibodies) and/or experience with quality control assays;
• Demonstrated ability to independently plan and execute tasks;
• Knowledgeable of statistical data evaluation;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
• Fluent in English (oral and written);
• Strong results orientation and can-do mentality;
• Experience with assay automation and/or assay validation/transfer in a GMP setting is preferred;
• Familiarity with EU/US regulatory requirements is preferred.

Analytical Development and Validation
The department of Analytical Development and Validation is a scientific center of excellence responsible for advanced analytical characterization of biotechnology derived medicines. Over sixty highly trained professionals daily support development of commercial manufacturing processes, develop and validate quality control assays and perform complex analytical characterization or trouble-shooting worldwide. The in-depth expertise on analyses of recombinant protein products, comprising a broad range of sophisticated techniques such as chromatography, electrophoresis, (mass) spectrometry, immunoassays and ultracentrifugation, is crucial to the MSD biotechnology network and is truly unique in the Netherlands.
