The research will be carried out at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam the Netherlands (www.nki.nl) in the small molecule screening, drug innovation and chemical biology laboratory headed by Dr. Huib Ovaa research.nki.nl/Ovaalab/ The project aims to develop novel small molecule modulators of enzymes in the ubiquitin proteasome system using small molecule screening and medicinal chemistry. UPStream is composed of 10 leading European laboratories in Ubiquitin Proteasome System (UPS) research in association with private sector (SME) partners. This network will train a novel generation of scientists in a critical and complex field of modern biology: the understanding of the UPS and its potential for drug development. Selected applicants (12 in total for the entire network) will attend technical training courses in the different partner laboratories and will conduct part of their research in partner laboratories.
We are looking for an experienced researcher with a PhD Degree (or equivalent) in organic synthesis or medicinal chemistry for a postdoctoral position. The candidate should not have the Dutch nationality or have spent more than 12 months in the Netherlands in the past 3 years as this project is funded by the EC Marie Curie program.
The temporary employment will be for a period of 2 years.
The gross salary per month will be from € 3.153,- to € 4.034,- according to the FWG-function group 55-60, depending on education and previous experience.
The terms of employment will be in accordance with the CAO Ziekenhuizen (Collective Labour Agreement for Hospitals). Apart from being a specialized institute and hospital with good working conditions and an excellent atmosphere, the NKI-AVL has been listed in the top 10 of ‘Best Employers’ in the Netherlands in 2011.
