Postdoctoral Researcher Analytical Biochemistry (1,0 fte)
Job description
The position is embedded in the Department of Analytical Biochemistry headed by Prof. Rainer Bischoff, which focuses on biomarker discovery, chemical biology and the development of instrumental analytical techniques.
The postdoctoral researcher works on a project entitled: Novel Stable Isotope Labelling Chemistry for Metabolomics and Proteomics.
The project will be performed in close collaboration with the Department of Bio-Organic Synthesis at the University of Leiden headed by Prof. Herman Overkleeft.
The successful candidate will work on the synthesis of modified oligoethyleneglycol-based reagents for the labelling of metabolites, peptides and proteins and their application to biomarker discovery studies in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), which will be performed in collaboration with Prof. Dirkje Postma.
This project is based on results published in Anal. Chem. 80: 9171-9180 (2008).
Requirements
The candidate should have a strong background in mass spectrometry and HPLC with a focus on metabolite, peptide or protein analysis. Experience in synthetic organic chemistry would be a significant advantage. The candidate should be motivated to perform research in an interdisciplinary environment and be open to work partially in Leiden on the chemical synthesis.
