Job description
The section Theory and History of Psychology (T&G) is part of the department of Psychology which belongs to the Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences. It currently consists of two professors, two assistant professors, and three PhD students and is directed by Professor Trudy Dehue. Applying instruments and concepts from the fields of History & Philosophy of Science and Science & Technology Studies, the T&G group focuses on three themes: social technology, memory and forgetting and neurobiological selves. More information about the program can be found on our website (see the url below). We offer a lively intellectual environment to carry out historical and theoretical research in these fields. Our group frequently meets for joint activities, regularly hosts international guests and enjoys frequent coverage in the media. We offer unique international networking opportunities, for instance through our participation in the European Neuroscience and Society Network (funded by the 7th Framework Program of the European Science Foundation) and the European Platform for Life Sciences, Mind Sciences, and the Humanities (funded by the Volkswagen Foundation).
Job description
The successful candidate will publish and lecture about topics related to one of the three themes mentioned above.
Requirements
This temporary position is open to candidates with a recent relevant PhD, combining, for instance, psychology with philosophy, sociology or anthropology. The ideal candidate has already published one or more articles in this interdisciplinary area.
The candidate should also have:
- affinity with Science & Technology Studies
- proficiency in English, both in speaking and writing
- excellent writing skills.
Conditions of employment
The University of Groningen offers a salary dependent on qualifications and work experience between minimum € 3,195 and maximum € 4,374 (scale 11) gross per month for a full-time position. The position is temporary for a period of 18 months.
