Job description
The Department of Criminal Law and Criminology gives courses in Dutch and English. These courses cover all aspects of substantive criminal law, criminal procedure and criminology. Research in substantive criminal law holds a prominent place in the research conducted by the department.
The Department of Criminal Law and Criminology is seeking a postdoc 'Substantive criminal law'.
Job description
The postdoc position involves both teaching (40%) and research (60%). Teaching will concentrate, in case of a postdoc who doesn't speak Dutch, on the English courses. The research project concentrates on substantive criminal law. Several cases, yet to be selected, will be presented to specialists in the field of substantive criminal law in a number of countries. A part of the activities of the postdoc is building and maintaining an international network in several countries. The postdoc will conduct this research in close collaboration with other members of the staff of the department, as well as members of an advisory board.
Requirements
- PhD in Law, preferably substantive criminal law
- good knowledge of English and (preferably) Dutch, German and French
- excellent communication and reporting skills
- demonstrable competences: flexibility, independence, analytical skills
- coordination/organization skills.
Conditions of employment
The University of Groningen offers a salary depending on qualifications and work experience of € 3,195 gross per month till a maximum of € 4,374 (scale 11) gross per month for a full-time position. The position is defined according to the UFO job profile 'researcher 3'. The initial 2-year temporary appointment may be prolonged by another 2 years, after a positive performance assessment.
Preferred starting date: December 1, 2010.
