Job description
A leading position in the Nijmegen Baby Research Centre with a focus on social-cognitive development. You will direct and coordinate all experimentally driven baby research in Nijmegen. You have both teaching and organizational tasks. Teaching tasks: - developing and teaching courses in the Bachelor’s degree programme in Psychology; - developing and teaching courses in the Research Master’s programme (Behavioural Science and Cognitive Neuroscience Master programmes); - supervising students (BSc and MSc theses) and PhD students. Organizational tasks: - director of the Baby Research Centre.
Requirements
You have: - a background in Early Social-Cognitive Development, preferably related to the present main topics of research and education in Nijmegen (social interactions, perception-action and control, language and communication, clinical and neuropsychology); - expertise in experimental research on infancy (EEG, eye-tracking etc); - broad teaching experience (Bachelor’s and Master’s courses; individual supervision of students and teaching courses for larger groups; development of academic courses etc); - expertise in managing a baby research centre.
Conditions of employment
You will be appointed as Assistant Professor (UD, salary scale 11-12) if you meet the requirements (past performance, experience, and established criteria). Salary dependends on experience.
Contract type
Temporary
3 years initially; after which you may be offered a permanent position.

The Baby Research Centre (BRC) ( http://www.babyresearchcenter.nl/) investigates infants' social, cognitive, and linguistic development in the first three years of life. Specific research focus is on language acquisition, social cognitive development and communication before language. The Baby Research Centre (BRC) is affiliated to the Educational Schools of Psychology and Artificial Intelligence as well as the Donders Centre for Cognition. The Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics and the Centre for Language Studies (CLS) are also closely involved.
