Job description
'Original non-solvent polycondensation technology development for bio-based polyester, polyurethane and polyamide synthesis'
Project description
The vacant Post-Doc position exists within the framework of a collaboration between the TU/e and Nitto Europe (part of Nitto Denko), a manufacturer of products such as double-coated adhesive tapes, sealing materials, medical tapes and polarizing films (for LCD applications). Nitto Denko is an important supplier to worldwide markets such as automotive, consumer electronics, paper & printing, building & construction and the medical industry.
The aim of this Post-Doc project is to develop novel polyesters, poly(ester amide)s and polyurethanes from various renewable monomers, prepared through, a.o., enzymatic polymerization. These polymers should have well-defined molecular structures and functionalities suitable for adhesive applications. The materials will be subjected to detailed molecular, thermal, mechanical and morphological characterization. Subsequently, these polymeric architectures will be evaluated as components for, e.g., (water-borne) adhesive systems, in collaboration with specialists at Nitto Europe (located in Genk, Be). Accordingly, the Post-Doc working on this topic will spend a significant part of his/her time at the Nitto site in Genk.
