The Department of International Health is established within the FHML. Its education and research programmes place local, regional, and national health developments into an international perspective, with a view to compare national, transnational, and European policies and practices in public health and provide policy advice. The department is involved in several projects funded by the European Commission. The Junior Researcher will be enrolled in a project on assessing and developing public health capacity in the EU, undertaken by a consortium of public health organisations led by the UM. His or her task will be to coordinate the process of reviewing and systematic mapping of the capacity of EU Member States for developing and implementing public health policies and interventions; identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for public health in the EU; and making recommendations for policy and action.
The applicant should have an MSc or MA in health sciences, social science or related fields. He or she should be familiar with the organisation of public health in Europe, with the principles of health systems analysis and project management, and with quantitative and qualitative methods for data collection and analysis applied to public health. The candidate should be capable to work in an international and multidisciplinary environment and to work under pressure. Experience with project management would be a definite asset.
The position is temporary for the duration of the project (14 months), staring as soon as possible. Depending on experience and qualification, the gross monthly salary is scale 10 (max. € 3755), based on a full-time appointment.
