The successful applicant will be enrolled in the oxidative stress program of Dr. An L. Moens at the Cardiovascular Research Institute of the University of Maastricht.
The project is focused on the pathogenetic role of oxidative stress, especially eNOS-dependent ROS-generation, in heart failure. We aim to characterize the trigger (i.e. source of superoxide) of eNOS-uncoupling and how modulating eNOS-uncoupling can prevent or reverse heart failure. The research team consists of clinicians, researchers, technicians and students specialized in cardiology and cardiovascular molecular biology. The successful candidate will work in close contact within this team to achieve the objectives of the study, within the time-line.
Individuals with prior experience in cardiovascular molecular biology, microsurgery, proteomics, HPLC, electrophoresis and/or protein chemistry and with a keen interest in oxidative stress, redox biochemistry, NO-biology and/or animal models of cardiovascular diseases are encouraged to apply. The position requires excellent communications skills necessary for scientific presentations and publications and the ability to work independently and cooperatively with members of the laboratory. The applicants must have demonstrated productivity in the field (participation to research publications or extensive lab experience).
