Job University of Twente - Tenure Track Position “Biomolecular Assembly” (1 fte)

Supramolecular Chemistry at the University of Twente has been a stronghold with a top international reputation for many years. In the newly formed cluster “Self-Assembled Systems”, consisting of the Molecular NanoFabrication, Supramolecular Chemistry and Biomolecular NanoTechnology groups, this field is explored in new exciting directions ranging from nanochemistry to biomolecular assembly. Central research themes include (bio)nanostructures formed by self-assembly, multivalency, (bio)molecular recognition, alternative lithography, chemistry in micro- and nanochannels, and (bio)molecular imaging.

The cluster is integral part of the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology and the Faculty of Science and Technology, and state-of-the-art fabrication and analysis facilities are available. The “Self-Assembled Materials” cluster will move this September into the new Carré building, where modern well-equipped laboratories are constructed.

Within the “Self-Assembled Systems” cluster, which now consists of five scientific staff members, there is a vacant Tenure Track position. The cluster encourages a high level of independence of its members and welcomes the application of high-quality junior applicants (e.g. at the VENI or VIDI levels) with complementary expertise. Establishing a career path, with the prospect of attaining a position with the possibility of independently granting PhD degrees, on the basis of mutual agreements is an explicit part of the application process.

Besides the staff member position, there are openings for PhD students and postdocs. The PhD students will be embedded within the newly established Twente Graduate School.

You will be appointed in a Tenure Track position [in accordance with Clause 6.5a of the Collective Labour Agreement - Dutch Universities] or a position as an aspirant professor. A Tenure Track contract enables you to direct your own career based on fixed performance agreements, in which context promotion from UD (university lecturer) to UHD (senior university lecturer) and subsequently to professor is possible. A definitive assessment will take place no later than five years after commencement of the employment, following which employment for an indefinite period may be agreed upon.
