Job description

You initiate, carry out and participate in education, research and consulting activities on stochastic methods within the context and use of radar imagery. Education focuses on an active participation in a multidisciplinary team to develop core remote sensing material. Your research focuses on stochastic methods for information extraction from radar, INSAR and differential INSAR images. Data quality and mathematical aspects in an image mining context are considered. You are able to discuss and find solutions for radar information acquisition problems emerging within ITC’s research and consulting projects. You will actively participate in core teaching, assist and supervise MSc and PhD students and contribute to the development of new educational products at various levels of education. You will participate actively in national and international professional societies.

Requirements

You possess a PhD in the field of remote sensing or spatial statistics with relevance to spatial information acquisition problems. You have proven knowledge of radar remote sensing. You have demonstrated scientific creativity combined with a publishing record of acknowledged quality and a strong interest in developing cost effective solutions relevant to the large variety of problems in developing countries. You have didactical skills and experience in teaching, including lecturing and course development. You are willing to undertake international travel. 

Conditions of employment

We offer an inspiring and challenging international environment. The successful candidate will be employed for a period of two years. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) of the Dutch Universities. Gross monthly salary depends on experience and qualifications, and ranges from € 2379.- to € 4374.- exclusive of allowances in accordance with the job profile Assistant Professor (Universitair Docent) level 2 (UD-2), under the University System for Job Classification (UJC).
