Research of the NanoElectronics Group entails the development of novel (concepts for) electronic devices and systems with critical dimensions on the nanoscale for application in future generations of electronics and information storage. The present research extends over hybrid inorganic-organic electronics, spin-based electronics, and quantum electronics. One of the future challenges will be to smartly combine top-down and bottom-up technology for electrically addressing single nanosystems, bridging the micro-nano gap in a reliable fashion. The research goes above and beyond the boundaries of traditional disciplines, synergetically combining aspects of Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, and Nanotechnology.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic researcher with a PhD degree in (applied) physics, electrical engineering or a related topic, with excellent experimental and theoretical skills in the field of nanoelectronics. Several years of (international) experience as postdoctoral researcher, a high-level publication record, and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are prerequisite. The candidate is expected to develop a strong externally funded research line that complements the existing expertise and infrastructure in the group. He/she must be committed to teaching relevant (under)graduate courses and supervising students.
We offer a top level research and academic environment with excellent opportunities for personal development. The work is highly interdisciplinary and the atmosphere in the group as well as in the institute is collegial and collaborative. The University offers an attractive package of fringe benefits such as excellent and modern technical infrastructure, child care, saving schemes and a campus with excellent sports facilities. The gross salary will be in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement of the Dutch Universities (CAO NU) and will amount maximum € 4970,- per month (scale 12), depending on prior experience.
Tenure track at the University of Twente means an appointment as Assistant Professor (depending on experience) for a period of maximum 6 years, with an annual assessment.
At the latest after 5 years, a final assessment will be performed to conclude whether a permanent staff position as an Associate Professor will be offered. Criteria for evaluation comprise a track record of publications that is far above average, proven skills in acquiring funding, building of an international network and good teaching capabilities.
