Utrecht University School of Economics (USE) expects proven evidence of interest in and experience with applied research in multidisciplinary economics in general and USE’s research profile in particular. That is, candidates should have the ambition to add value and create synergy within (at least one of) USE’s research programs: “The Multidisciplinary Economics of Firms, Sectors and Markets” or “The Multidisciplinary Economics of the Welfare State”. The former focuses typically on issues like market entry and exit, competition, cooperation and regulation, mergers and acquisitions, internationalisation, changes in firm and sector structures and the evolution of networks. The latter focuses on key elements of the welfare state such as ageing, health care, income distribution, distribution of decision-making powers, and labour market and social security arrangements.
Candidates are expected to have broad knowledge in the field of econometrics based on a relevant doctorate degree. Also, candidates should have an excellent research record, demonstrated by among others publications in international (top tier) journals as well as proven acquisition power. Obviously, candidates have a strong drive to further develop teaching and research in quantitative methods and econometrics, embedded in the multidisciplinary economics perspective of USE.
We invite both senior professors and young talents to apply.
Depending on current track record and performance, we offer either a tenured position or a five year tenure-track position in a stimulating and ambitious working environment in the inner-city of Utrecht, the Netherlands.
The salary for a full time appointment ranges between € 4,904 and € 8,622 gross per month. Good secondary benefits.
The salary is supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year. In addition we offer: a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, flexible employment conditions in which you may trade salary for vacation days or vice versa. Conditions are based on the Collective Labour Agreement of the Dutch Universities.
