a sociologist, political scientist, or candidate from a similar social science discipline, to become Assistant Professor with a specialisation in climate and energy policy/governance, preferably related to urban settings and/or non-state actors.
As an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) you will be offered regular assessments and participation in training programmes. You will carry out research; supervise PhD and Master students; lecture and coordinate courses and education programs (especially in the Master programme Urban Environmental Management); and initiate, acquire and manage research projects and building up a leading international position.
As Assistant Professor you are an ambitious and enthusiastic scientist and a team player, devoted to research and education in the field of Environmental Sociology / Political Sciences.
You also have:
- a PhD in sociology or political sciences
- strong research experience and internationally refereed publications related to energy and/or climate governance
- experience with management of complex projects
- proven experience with acquisition of research funding
- excellent communication skills in English
- excellence in (international) academic education
- good didactic qualities and experience with international academic education and enthusiasm for teaching and working with students
- good teamplayer qualities
As we will only be selecting outstanding candidates to take part in Tenure Track, this will be a good stepping stone to a further career within Wageningen UR or elsewhere.
We offer you a temporary contract for three years for 0,9 fte (34 hours per week), which can lead to a permanent employment contract. Gross Salary: from € 3195,00 to € 4374,00 (Scale 11 CAO Dutch Universities), based on full time (1,0 fte) employment and dependent on expertise and experience.

The Environmental Policy Group is an internationally leading and dynamic centre of expertise in the environmental social sciences. Theoretical and empirical research and undergraduate and post-graduate education are focused on the following themes: sustainable consumption and production; sustainable natural resource use; and global environmental change. We have a solid disciplinary background in sociology and political sciences, and cooperate in research and education with other disciplines as well.
