We are looking for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Where will you be working?
DANS offers a pleasant working environment, where a motivated and collaborative team of research data experts and engineers is committed to Open Science and FAIR data. We are currently developing a new environment in which datasets can be edited and analysed before being permanently stored. This environment will be based on Dataverse software from Harvard University. It will include various Data Stations, tailored to the different needs of different research communities. The Data Stations must be able to interact with infrastructures and analytical tools from various scientific domains. As research methods and techniques evolve rapidly, continuously developing the DANS environment is a challenge. Technological innovation based on customers’ wishes is a major factor in the success of DANS. That is why we are now bringing together our technology staff under one CIO.
What will you be doing?
You will be a member of the three-headed board of directors and control the DANS tech section from there. This section includes a Software Development Team of 11 engineers, a small R&D team, and a Data Systems Team. It concerns a total staff of 17. The Software Development Team is headed by a team leader. It will be your responsibility to ensure that the DANS data services are cutting-edge and appeal to several - and new - user groups. This position is new and offers a lot of room for creativity.
What do we expect from you?
What will you earn?
Your gross monthly salary will amount to max. €6,940 (Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch universities/KNAW, scale 14) on a full-time basis, excluding 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus. The appointment will be for two years, with the option of being employed for an indefinite period afterwards.
