The department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine is a specialize medical imaging department with a strong research focus on quantitative and molecular imaging. Within the department, the imaging methodology group has a strong interest in developing quantitative image analysis methods and in the translation of new PET radiotracers into the clinic. The principle investigators within the imaging methodology group have a long and internationally recognized track record. The imaging methodology group presently consists of 7 medical physicists, 5 research oriented physicists, several postdocs of various backgrounds and numerous PhD students. 

Werkzaamheden
As a Image and Data Scientist, your main tasks and responsibilities are:

  • Initiate and perform R&D activities related to (molecular) imaging methodology;
  • Support ongoing research activities within the department;
  • Write grant proposals/obtain research grants;
  • Supervise PhD students;
  • Supervise Master and Bachelor students with a background in physics, data science;
  • Provide and coordinate educational courses at various faculties of the VU Amsterdam (mainly at the faculties of Medical Natural Sciences and Medicine).

Requirements

Je/Uw profiel
To further expand and strengthen our imaging methodology research activities we are looking for an experienced, ambitious and enthusiastic investigator with at least 4 years’ experience in medical image analysis and data science. Experience in molecular imaging and in artificial intelligence (machine and deep learning, CNNs) or advanced statistical approaches is highly appreciated.

  • PhD in medical physics (medical imaging), image or data science;
  • At least 4 years’ experience as postdoctoral scientific researcher, preferably with PET studies and pharmacokinetic analysis;
  • Experience with advanced statistics (PCA, GLM, GEE), artificial intelligence (machine learning, deep learning, CCNs) and mathematics;
  • Proven track record in obtaining research grants as main and co-applicant;
  • Proven track record in successful publishing of peer-reviewed papers.

Conditions of employment

Salarisschaal  12: 4350 tot 5592 euro bruto bij een fulltime dienstverband (afhankelijk van opleiding en ervaring).
Apart from an excellent salary we also offfer an 8.3% year-end bonus and 8% holiday pay. For more information see our working conditions on the website.
