Fixed-term contract: temporary position, with the prospect of a permanent appointment.
We want to get the best out of science, others and ourselves. Why? Because this is what the world around us desperately needs. Leading research and education make an indispensable contribution to a healthy, free world with equal opportunities for all. This is what unites the more than 22,000 students and 5,000 employees at Radboud University. And this requires even more talent and collaboration. You have a part to play!
The Microbial Cell Biology group is part of the Department of Microbiology. Microbiology comprises an enthusiastic and devoted team of excellent scientists that closely collaborate in a flat organisational structure. Collaboration is key to our success. The Department of Microbiology is in its turn part of the Institute for Water and Wetland Research (IWWR) at the Faculty of Science. Research at the IWWR is carried out by complementary and closely interacting research groups that study the mechanisms by which cells, organisms and ecosystems adapt to environmental change. Our Faculty, Institute and Department have state-of-the-art equipment for sequencing, light and electron microscopy, a large bioreactor facility and facilities for biochemical, molecular and physiological work. The Department is housed in the modern, state-of-the-art Huygens Building. Employees have a high level of freedom to determine the way they structure their work at Radboud University. We work on the basis of trust and professional integrity. Our focus on the individual means that we take each employee’s phase in life and career into consideration. Radboud University offers customised facilities to better align work and private life. Radboud University is an equal opportunity employer, committed to building a culturally diverse intellectual community, and as such encourages applications from women and minorities. The university strongly supports the career development of its staff by a variety of programmes.
Day-care facilities for children aged 0-4 years are available on campus, next to the science faculty buildings. Parents are entitled to partly paid parental leave, and Radboud University employees enjoy flexibility in the way they structure their work. This flexibility also extends to the conditions of employment. Some aspects of the conditions of employment can be fine-tuned to the employee’s wishes. Examples are a tax-free reimbursement of bicycle commuting related expenses and gym membership costs.
