You will be a fellow of research school SOM (FEB) as well as SHARE (UMCG). Moreover, you initiate research and strengthen research and education in the area of health systems at FEB and UMCG. You will specifically contribute with research and education to the Department of Operations (FEB) and the Department of Health Sciences (UMCG). You will participate as a researcher in the Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health.

• you have excellent research qualities, as evidenced by a publication record in international peer-reviewed journals and participation in renowned conferences
• you are part of certain ERB board memberships of journals in the field of health systems
• you are an excellent teacher both at the undergraduate and graduate level (incl. research master) and you have experience in curriculum development
• you have ample experience in supervising and mentoring researchers (including PhD students)
• you have an extensive national and international network that is relevant to the further development of our University
• you have demonstrable management qualities
• you have a proven ability to acquire external funding and you are able to bridge research groups in economics and business and health sciences.

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:
- a salary depending on qualifications and work experience starting from € 5,582 to a maximum of € 8,127 gross salary per month for a full-time position
- an 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% year-end bonus and participation in a pension scheme for employees; favourable tax treatment may apply to Non-Dutch applicants
- a full-time position at the level of full professor.

Faculty of Economics and Business

We offer a position as Full Professor of Health Systems. This position is within the Department of Operations. The professorship is a joint position with the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG: https://www.umcg.nl/EN/corporate/careers/Paginas/default.aspx) and you will allocate your time evenly over FEB and UMCG.

Health systems around the world need to adjust to the epidemiological and demographic transitions, which jointly imply that more (chronic) care needs to be delivered by fewer health (care) professionals. The new chair in health systems will contribute to the scientific and policy debate on the realization of a sustainable health system in The Netherlands and specifically in the Northern Netherlands. This applies to the region-wide policy level as well as to the individual organizational level. In order to maintain a sustainable health system, extant organizations will have to collaborate closely in integrated care networks, which, ideally, encompass the full spectrum from community-based prevention via primary care to tertiary care and back again. In this context, policy effectiveness and efficiency have to be assessed in an observational context where appropriate quantitative and/or qualitative methods have to be applied for causal inference.

Department of Operations
The Department of Operations is one of the largest European research groups on operations, with focal areas in Operations Management, Operations Research, and Industrial Engineering. The department has over 25 tenured or tenure-track faculty in addition to several part-time lecturers and about 20 PhD students. Healthcare is one of the key empirical domains for this research group.

Its research publications cover the full range of journals for the field, including Journal of Supply Chain Management, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Service Science, Operations Research, Management Science, and International Journal of Production and Operations Management. Research of the department is also published in healthcare (management) journals, including Health Policy and Social Science & Medicine. The department builds on a strong position in international research networks in organizing conferences, and participating in working groups and projects.

Staff members are heavily involved in an active PhD Program, and in successful and accredited bachelor and master programs in Industrial Engineering, Technology Management, Operations and Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, and Business Administration (MSc Health).
