Job description

The Amsterdam School of Economics (ASE) of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) has a position for an Assistant professorship in Environmental Macroeconomics.

The position is in Macro and International Economics (MInt). MInt is a section within ASE and covers its teaching and research in macroeconomics, broadly defined, so including environmental macro, budgetary policy, international trade and finance, macro-finance, monetary economics, pension economics, and so on. The MInt research group occupies a prominent position in Europe. The group is very involved in the Tinbergen Institute. For details on MInt’s research, please visit the MInt website.

Candidates are expected to contribute to research and teaching. Research is expected to be aimed at international top journals, in line with the research fellow criteria of the Tinbergen Institute (meeting these criteria is a condition for tenure). Teaching will be at both the undergraduate (BSc) and the graduate (MSc) level and will range from first-year tutorials to supervising MSc theses and possibly teaching PhD courses. Almost all teaching is conducted in English, also at the undergraduate level; non-Dutch speakers are free to teach in English.

Only candidates with a strong background in environmental macroeconomics, broadly defined, will be considered. This includes research on macroeconomic aspects of environmental concerns such as climate change and pollution, natural resources, environmental taxation and trade policy, and so on. Note that ASE also has a vacancy in environmental micro, which creates potential for collaboration.
