Sharing positivity
Our approach is characterized by a connected, open and can-do spirit that stimulates personal initiative and curiosity. You are encouraged to take ownership and create value while sharing your knowledge both internally and across the wider (global) research community. As an organization we strive every day to enable this mission because we know it is the only way to make the breakthroughs that will help to solve the challenges facing the world.
We focus on two core areas of fundamental research – life science and sustainability – within two outstanding research pillars:
A chance to play your part
If you would like to be part of this stimulating and diverse environment we would love to hear from you. Working within the Debye Institute for Nanomaterials Science you will be involved in understanding charged solid/liquid interfaces of nanostructured materials such as (photo)electro-catalytic materials or electrode-electrolyte interfaces in batteries. This has the potential to yield important sustainability benefits in terms of battery life time and performance. In doing so, you fulfill your personal development goals while adding to our reputation of scientific excellence. We are particularly interested in hearing from female scientists worldwide who contribute their skills and curiosity to our inclusive approach to life and work.
Your background and the position
You have a PhD in (electro)catalysis, theoretical chemistry, or hybrid materials, an excellent track record, and the experience necessary to take your place within an international research and education environment. Your own research interests are found within the broad field of quantum chemical simulation. Combining scientific excellence with an open-minded and collaborative mindset in research and teaching, you contribute enthusiastically to the acquisition and execution of externally funded projects. As such, it is important that you are able to act as an outward looking ambassador for Utrecht University, communicating your knowledge to the next generation and across networks.
