The Amsterdam School of Economics (ASE) of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) is looking for a Tenured associate or full Professor in Environmental Economics.

Job description

Candidates are expected to equally contribute to research and teaching. Teaching will be at both the undergraduate (BSc) and the graduate (MSc) level and may range from first-year tutorials to teaching PhD courses. The majority of the school’s teaching is conducted in English, also at the undergraduate level; non-Dutch speakers only teach in English. Research is expected to be aimed at international top journals, in line with the research fellow criteria of the Tinbergen Institute.

Highly-motivated candidates with outstanding research and teaching qualities in the area of environmental economics are welcome to apply. Candidates will be evaluated on their potential for and/or record of excellence in research and teaching.

Conditions of employment

Appointment will be on a permanent basis. Both full-time and part-time appointments are possible.

Initial salary is between €5,039 and €9,812 gross per month (+16.3% holiday and end-year payments). This is based on 38 hours per week and in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities regulating employment conditions at Dutch universities. A substantial reduction in income tax (equal to 30% of taxable salary) may apply to non-Dutch appointees. The UvA offers a very attractive pension scheme.

Faculty of Economics and Business – Amsterdam School of Economics

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) provides academic courses for more than 5,000 students in Economics and Business, Actuarial Sciences, Econometrics & Operations Research, Economics of Taxation, and a variety of post-doctoral courses. The Faculty also conducts research programmes in many specialist areas and employs about four hundred faculty members. The FEB has an internationally acclaimed academic profile and is located in the heart of Amsterdam. FEB consists of the Amsterdam Business School and the Amsterdam School of Economics (ASE). The ASE is among the top economics research institutes in Europe. It is particularly keen on expanding research and teaching in environmental economics and is simultaneously hiring candidates for tenure track positions in this area.

The ASE consists of four sections: Economics of Taxation, Microeconomics, Macro and International Economics, and Quantitative Economics. The sections are responsible for teaching at the BSc and MSc level. Its researchers also actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Tinbergen Institute. The School has a strong focus on producing top-quality research and is highly active in international academic networks. The environment is collegial and encourages collaboration among faculty.
