National and European funding schemes are an important way to boost both academic as well as applied research. It is the schools ambition to further increase the quantity and quality of its funding applications in the coming years. To meet this objective Erasmus School of Law is looking for a funding officer who will assist our researchers with national and European research funding applications, research contracts and post award project management.

The funding officer plays a crucial role in supporting researchers to prepare high-quality applications. This includes the following tasks:

• The funding advisor raises awareness of relevant grant opportunities of funding bodies, such as the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and the European Commission (Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe and Erasmus+) and targets potential applicants;
• The funding officer provides advice, guidance on and administrative support for proposal submission, based on the rules and strategies of the funding bodies;
• The funding officer liaises with internal (within the EUR) and external partners to make sure that European cooperation projects are well-balanced and in line with call objectives;
• The funding officer works in close cooperation with the Finance Department in order to safeguard proper budgeting, management of applications, and post award management;
• The funding officer advises the Board of Research on policies for incentives and recognition for successful acquisitions;
• The funding officer advises the Board of Research on nominations for research prizes and awards.

• Master degree, preferably in law;
• Knowledge of and experience with Dutch and European funding schemes, such as Horizon 2020  and Horizon Europe;
• Keen interest in scientific research and in linking research topics with funding opportunities;
• Communication skills;
• Service oriented, flexible, and a reliable;
• Able to prioritize and to undertake different tasks simultaneously;
• Able to function well under stress when multiple applications need to be submitted for a specific deadline;
• Bilingually fluent (Dutch and English).

The employment is for a fixed term of two years, and might be extended to a permanent employment. 

The work conditions are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities (CAO NU). The salary is dependent on prior training and experience and corresponds to Scale 11 CAO NU, with a minimum of € 3,637.- gross per month on a 38 hour per week contract. The EUR has attractive employment conditions, which include a holiday allowance of 8.0%, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and 41 annual vacation days in case of a full workweek.

Erasmus School of Law
Erasmus School of Law (ESL) employs 490 members of staff and is attended by around 5000 students.
