Job description

The Section of Clinical and Child Studies invites applicants for the position of full professor in the area of the assessment and treatment of problems in development and parenting. The Section is looking for a professor who is alive to the practical application of knowledge and pays attention to the challenges posed by a metropolitan and multicultural environment. He or she is thoroughly familiar with children who for a variety of reasons (e.g., congenital or medical conditions, growing up in a malfunctioning family) behave suboptimally in the family or wider environment and require accommodations to reach their potential. The professor is expected to design, conduct, and supervise empirical research studies, to teach at all academic levels, to supervise PhD and graduate students, to apply for external research funding and to head a team of colleagues in the Section of Clinical Child and Family Studies.

  • A PhD degree in a relevant area;
  • A national and international network;
  • A substantial list of publications in international peer-reviewed journals;
  • Experience with the acquisition of external research funding;

  • The ability to lead and inspire a group of colleagues.
  • Mangerial experience and/or skills are a plus

Conditions of employment

Remuneration will depend on the position, specific knowledge and experience and will be calculated on the basis of full-time salary ranging between EUR €5.582,- and €9.812,- gross per year (salary scale H2/H1, CAO NU ). Erasmus University Rotterdam offers attractive terms of employment, including a holiday allowance of 8%, a year-end payment of 8.3% and 41 annual leave days in case of a full work week. Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB)

The Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences is home to a vast diversity of scientific disciplines: public administration, pedagogical sciences, psychology and sociology. In addition, the Erasmus University College, IHS, and two research institutes RISBO and DRIFT are linked to the faculty. The Department of Psychology, Education & Child Studies provides education and research in the area of pedagogical and psychological sciences and is embedded within the Faculty of Social Science. The Section of Clinical Child and Family Studies

The Section of Clinical Child and Family Studies forms part of DPECS and investigates the parenting and socialization of children, both with and without developmental problems. The research program focuses on developing children in their interaction with both the proximal (e.g., family, peers) and the distal (e.g., school, sports club) social environment with the explicit aim to improve their well-being and to facilitate their functioning in all developmental areas. Tot his purpose the members of the section conduct experimental and intervention studies but also make use of data collected in various longitudinal studies such as the Generation R (Next) Study.
