Job description

The University of Twente seeks to appoint a full professor (1,0 fte) in the area of Multidisciplinary Water Management (MWM). The MWM chair aims to assess the pivotal role of water and water management in linking societal aspirations, resource opportunities and environmental limitations for the upcoming era of change. As research group, we see the quest for resilience, and developments towards a biobased and circular economy as challenges for civil engineering research in the water management domain.

We achieved an internationally leading position in research on sustainability of water use at a global scale, adding the consumption perspective to water management. We study the design and assessment of water management policies, supported by a suite of multidisciplinary models. Our expertise lies in analyzing the efficiency, environmental sustainability, equity and resilience of innovative solutions for current and upcoming large societal challenges. In education we contribute to the curricula of Civil Engineering (BSc) and Civil Engineering and Management (MSc).

Job description

Research: you will initiate and perform innovative research and lead the MWM chair. You will form partnerships with external parties and attract national and international funding. You will coach young high-profiled academic staff and supervise junior researchers.

Education: your teaching revolves around general topics in water management at BSc level and specialized topics at MSc level. You will spend approximately 20-30% of your time on education, including supervision of students and organizational tasks.

Organization: you will take up a shared responsibility for the organization of the Department of Civil Engineering to which MWM belongs, along with Marine and Fluvial Systems (MFS), Transport Engineering and Management (TEM) and Construction Management and Engineering (CME), and you will strengthen cooperation within faculty and university.
