Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR) stands for the public interest of safe and reliable food chains. We are building a strong and innovative organization. We are currently looking for a scientific expert in the area of mycotoxins for the team natural toxins. This team of 20 professionals conducts research on mycotoxins, phycotoxins and plant toxins in food and feed. The team aims to strengthen the scientific relevance of WFSR in all three areas mentioned, including the role as European Union Reference Laboratory for mycotoxins & plant toxins in food and feed.

You will be responsible for accurately and independently conducting research as well as shaping and directing both existing and new research projects. You will initiate new international research proposals to strengthen and renew the mycotoxin field as well as plant toxins. You publish the results of research in scientific journals and present the results at international conferences.

Requirements

  • An analytical chemist (PhD) with several years of experience in the field of instrumental analysis on plantcomponents
  • Experienced in working in a project based organisation in close collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines
  • Has a driven and inventive personality, passionate about results, with a keen awareness of quality
  • A standout colleague with a broader horizon, willing to explore new work areas
  • Independence in initiating, acquiring, and conducting research projects
  • An international professional network in the areas mentioned or complementary/related fields is preferred

Conditions of employment

The work in the team natural toxins focusses on analysis of mycotoxins, phycotoxins and plant toxins in food and feed. We develop new and improve analytical methods for research into natural toxins. We advise national and international governments regarding the prevention of natural toxins in the food supply chain.
  • A challenging and dynamic position in a team whose members are characterised by their involvement, enthusiasm, and expertise.
  • The position is for 36 hours a week. You will receive a salary proportionate to your knowledge and experience, with a minimum of €2.790,00 (gross), potentially up to €5.183,00 (gross, scale 10-11).
  • This will initially be a two-year position with the possibility of extension. Given good performance over time, a permanent position will definitely be among your options.
