The groups of Dr. Francesca Mattiroli and Dr. Puck Knipscheer currently have a vacancy for a (senior) Technician to work on Protein expression and purification.
Description of the project:
We are looking for a (senior) technician to perform protein expression and purification procedures at the Hubrecht Institute. The main task will be to express recombinant proteins in bacteria, insect cells and mammalian cells, followed by purification using automated chromatography procedures (FPLC). The successful candidate will work within the laboratories of Dr. Mattiroli and Dr. Knipscheer, with access to biochemistry expertise and state-of-the-art equipment. The tasks will also include the design and optimization of purification strategies, and collaboration with additional groups within the Institute on various projects. The experiments need to be well documented and clearly communicated.
The candidate should have a bachelor or master degree in biology, biomedical sciences or biochemistry (HBO or University level). A strong affinity (preferably hands-on experience) with cell culture, recombinant protein expression and protein purification is a requirement. Since the position involves working on various projects simultaneously, a skill in working systematically is needed. An enthusiastic and independent work attitude are recommended and good communication skills are a prerequisite.
Duration:
Initially one year with a potential extension.
Salary:
According to “CAO-Nederlandse Universiteiten” (CAO-NU), depending on experience scale 7 excluding 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus. We offer an extensive package of fringe benefits.
