Requirements

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a creative and pro-active team player to initiate a new research line.
We work on biomedical systems biology, ranging from fundamental science to clinical applications. We unite data-driven and model-based approaches for biomedical research, engineering and healthcare by combining in silico models of the human physiological system with stochastic models to integrate diverse biomedical data. Existing research lines focus on oncology and metabolic disease. We seek to appoint a scientist who is passionate about research as well as teaching. We search for candidates with a PhD degree in computational biology, biomedical engineering or other relevant disciplines to develop a research line on 'Modelling and AI for Systems Medicine'. New directions for model-based data analysis could be the development and application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology for (real-time) learning and adaptation of dynamic models, to accurately estimate the current state of the system and to predict its future trajectory. This may enable the creation of 'digital twins' and contribute to personalized health and precision medicine. We search for candidates that want to play a leading role in this rapidly developing field.

In addition to research and education, the candidate is expected to actively setup collaborations and to secure research funding. The TU/e provides an exciting ecosystem for health technology research and innovation, which includes close collaboration with local hospitals, industry and the cross-departmental artificial intelligence institute EAISI (www.tue.nl/ai ). Health is one of the three application areas of EAISI. We offer a substantial start-up package to kick-off your career.
