The Department of Terrestrial Ecology has a vacancy for a laboratory assistant.

The NIOO-KNAW Department Terrestrial Ecology is searching for a technician to support our work on aboveground-belowground interactions between plants, microbes, nematodes, insects and their natural enemies. We are looking for a technician with expertise in running field- and greenhouse experiments and chemical analyses. Proven interests in one or more of these fields are appreciated: (invertebrate) zoology, entomology, nematology and/or molecular ecology. We look for candidates who are interested in a combination of working in lab, greenhouse, outdoor and field conditions, as well as with surveying work in the field.

Tasks:
As a Laboratory assistant, you will be responsible for analyzing, interpreting and presenting research data. You will participate in and carry out tests and analyses in the greenhouse, outdoor and field conditions and chemical lab analyses. Also you will do statistical analyses and write reports in Dutch and English.

You should have a completed HBO education. We expect you to work in a team, have excellent communication and organizational skills and be able to combine multiple tasks and work with multiple researchers. A driving license is a prerequisite. We expect you to be able to process data, communicate and write reports in English and Dutch, and be interested in database organization. 

Appointment as a laboratory assistant (0.8 FTE). Initially for 1 year and upon satisfactory performance to be prolonged permanent. Depending on your experience, the maximum gross salary is € 3,606 per month (scale 8.10) in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities, excluding 8% vacation allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus.
