Job description

Are you an innovative thinker and experienced researcher with an academic attitude and broad interdisciplinary interest? Do you have a PhD in immunology, immuno-chemistry or related field? And do you have a strong research line to complement our Group of Cell Biology and Immunology Wageningen University & Research? Then we have an interesting Tenure Track position for you!

We require you to have a deep background in immunology, in addition to proven expertise in either immunomodulation (particularly at a single cell level), or in nanotechnology or biotechnology (e.g. drug delivery). However, we are open to other fields provided you can demonstrate how your research aligns with the Cell Biology and Immunology Group.

We generate fundamental knowledge on the immune system of vertebrates and apply this knowledge to the development of dietary-based immunomodulation, immunotherapies and vaccination strategies in order to improve health of animals and humans.

As assistant/associate professor Immunology you will dedicate approximately 40% of your time to teaching and 60% to (commissioned) research. You will be contributing to the scientific mission of the CBI group. Specific courses to be taught.

Requirements

  • Completed PhD in Immunology, immuno-chemistry or related field;
  • Independent research experience, such as one or more postdocs;
  • Strong publication record (preprints acceptable);
  • Evidence of grant acquisition;
  • Experience with teaching;
  • Innovative research vision that aligns with and complements the work at the CBI;
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, inter-personal);
  • Strong team player, with growing leadership skills;
  • Driven to improve science for future generations, through teaching and contributing to Open Science and similar initiatives;

Additionally, a contract for 0.8 FTE can be discussed.
