Job description

Are you an ambitious and enthusiastic scientist with expertise in Strategic Human Resource Management? As associate professor, you will teach students about and conduct cutting-edge research on the institutional context of employment relations. This way, you help the Strategic HRM Chair group to become an international centre of expertise on sustainable work, careers and employability for responsible organisations.

The Department of Business Administration at the Nijmegen School of Management, Radboud University, is looking for an Associate Professor of Strategic Human Research Management, specialising in the institutional context of employment relations. National and international legislation and labour market regulation; historical, social and political systems; and the power of labour unions and trade associations all have an impact on HRM strategies and the adoption of HRM practices within work organisations. As organisations operate in complex institutional environments, core expertise in this regard is important and will strengthen the Chair of Strategic HRM.

As Associate Professor of Strategic HRM, you will be part of the Strategic HRM Chair group within the Department of Business Administration which seeks to educate students for future challenges through our integral Business Administration study programme. Together with the other members of the Chair group and the Department of Business Administration, you will further develop the quality and impact of the group's teaching activities. The group participates in various courses in the Bachelor's degree programme of the Department of Business Administration, and is responsible for the Master's specialisation in Strategic Human Resources Leadership. The latter focuses on social processes in the management and responsible leadership of human resources from a multiple-stakeholder perspective. While taking into account the dynamics and complex international institutional contexts of today's working life, we increase students' ability to use, apply and reflect on theory and practice regarding the strategic role of HRM in the profit, services and public sectors.

As regards research, you will be expected to be strongly committed to act as a driving force for realising the Strategic HRM Chair group's ambition: to become an international centre of expertise on sustainable work, careers and employability for responsible organisations. You will help further strengthen these research pillars with specific attention to how age, gender and ethnicity intersect. The members of the Chair group have published in high-impact journals such as Annals of The Academy of Management Annals, European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, Organization Studies, Journal of Management Studies, and Human Resource Management Journal.

Combining teaching and research skills, you should be able to inspire students conducting cutting-edge research on the institutional mechanisms that have an impact on HRM. You will teach courses in the Bachelor's and the Master's programmes in Business Administration, conduct research in line with the Responsible Organisation programme, publish in international high-quality journals, attract external funding for research projects, acquire and supervise PhD projects, build international networks with businesses and academics, and contribute to central and departmental administration and management tasks.
