Job description

As Junior Admissions Officer at ESHCC you will:

  • Handle the Administrative processing (including evaluation of diplomas) of the applications for the Media and Communication programmes in our databases;
  • Assist the Selection Committees by preparing the applications for the selection process and profiling the candidate and his or her qualifications.
  • Keep track of the applications and report to the Selection Committee on a regular basis while keeping an eye on the strict deadlines;
  • Work closely with other stakeholders within and outside the University, such as the central Admissions Office;
  • Proactively reach out to applicants who require attention;
  • Communicate with applicants regarding the status of their application and answer various questions;
  • Create a sustainable and personal relationship with students upon their selection and be their go-to person;
  • Provide relevant information about admission (requirements) and application (procedures) to prospective students;
  • Keep the website for prospective students up-to-date;
  • Answer questions by applicants and prospective students by mail, phone and in person;
  • Perform various administrative duties for the Admissions team as required;
  • Prepare presentations and (assisting with) sessions for the Open Day;
  • Represent the IBCoM programme and the Master Media Studies at Open Days;

Requirements

  • We expect you to be able to work and function at Higher Vocational Education (HBO) working level and to be internationally oriented;
  • You have ample knowledge of and experience with a wide variety of organizational, advisory and administrative duties;
  • You have an excellent proficiency of the English language (B2/C1, both in writing and verbally). Proficiency in another foreign language is an advantage;
  • You are fluent in spoken and written Dutch (B2/C1-level);
  • Affinity with international students and administrative processes;
  • Good (intercultural) communication skills and customer oriented;
  • Accurate, highly organized, able to work under pressure and have a keen eye for procedures;
  • Proactive and independent working style;
  • You enjoy working in a small team in an international setting and enjoy the challenges this entails;
  • You are flexible in your approach to completing the work required for this position.

Conditions of employment

An internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

We offer a contract that is initially for one year based on 0,6 fte. Your salary is dependent on your specific knowledge and experience, and will be calculated on the basis of full-time salary ranging between € 2.700,- and €3.606,- gross per month, on a fulltime basis. (scale 8, CAO NU). A full-time appointment at EUR is 38 hours per week.

In addition, EUR pays an 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year payment of 8.3% and offers excellent secondary benefits, and a very generous leave scheme. Furthermore, EUR is affiliated with ABP for the pension provision, and we offer partially paid parental leave, fully paid extended birth leave for partners, a personal education budget, work-life balance coaches and mode.

Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication

The Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication(ESHCC) is part of the Erasmus University Rotterdam. The school has three departments:  History, Arts and Culture and Media & Communication.

The faculty has approximately 1700 students and 130 employees.
