Job description

As scheduler, you create an optimal timetable for the bachelor, pre-master and master programmes of the school. The schedule will follow the agreements within the study programmes, but also within the business school (RSM) and with the other schools of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). In addition, you provide support to the Programme Management department for the optimal functioning and quality of the service. You will join a team of one scheduling coordinator and scheduling assistants. You will actively work with colleagues from your own department, with RSM's instructors, and with scheduling colleagues from other EUR schools.

Your main tasks
  • Creating and publishing timetables for classes and examinations for the BSc, pre-master, and MSc programmes in coordination with programme managers, lecturers and professional support staff at Erasmus University
  • Scheduling all activities in the scheduling system (and possibly related programs)
  • During the year, processing adjustments and requests in the scheduling system
  • Giving (proactive) advice and support to colleagues, students and instructors with regard to the timetable processes
  • Contribute to process improvements that make scheduling at RSM as well as our educational activities more effective and efficient
  • Periodic reporting and evaluation of the scheduling processes and activities
  • Various administrative programme management tasks to support the Programme Management BSc and MSc team, such as providing information to students and faculty, improving internal processes, and correctly collecting and recording information.

Requirements

  • Minimum Dutch hbo degree or international equivalent
  • Experience with database software
  • Excellent proficiency with MS Excel
  • Excellent command of English and Dutch (both minimum CEFR level B2, speaking and writing)
  • Generally good communication skills (speaking and writing)
  • Scheduling experience within (higher) education is a bonus
  • Experience with a timetabling programme such as TimeEdit and student information systems (Osiris) is a bonus

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 12 months with possibilty for extension.

The department, situated on the fifth floor of the Mandeville Building on Erasmus University's Woudestein Campus, is headed by the Dean of Education and consists of several teams in programme management, recruitment and admissions, study advice, business intelligence, international office, examination board support, and a career centre. Our MSc Programme Management team supports the educational processes of around 3,000 international students in 14 Master of Science programmes. You will be part of an international, diverse team with currently 11 direct colleagues, and will also have contact with students, teaching faculty, neighbouring teams and occasionally external parties. Availability in evenings and on weekends may occasionally be required during events such as open days or graduations. Depending on persisting pandemic regulations, work from home might initially still be partially required, but in principle, on-campus work will be desired at least 50 per cent of the time. A notebook computer and accessories will be provided.

The conditions of employment comply with the collective labour agreement for Dutch universities (CAO NU). We offer a contract of 22,8 hours per week, initially for a year, with the possibility of adding more hours over time and becoming permanent.

Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from a minimum of € 2,367 up to a maximum of € 3,196 gross per month (scale 7 CAO NU), based on a full-time contract of 38 hours per week.

Erasmus University has attractive employment conditions, which include a holiday allowance of 8 per cent, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3 per cent, and a generous number of vacation days.
