Job description

Creating positive societal impact is the mission of the strategy of Erasmus University. As part of this mission Erasmus University is strengthening its impact and innovation ecosystem. In order to showcase how our community of researchers, entrepreneurs and students together enable this ecosystem we are looking for an enthusiastic communication advisor & content creator—someone who translates our ambition into stories, visuals and events.  

Your main tasks: 

  • Content creation to communicate our message clearly and effectively through different content mediums and channels and engage our target audience in the Erasmus impact and innovation ecosystem (researchers, alumni, EUR holding partners, businesses and societal partners).   
  • Organise events to further our strategic goals and to make our stakeholders aware of the EUR impact and innovation activities.   
  • Leverage your content knowledge to collaboratively work with the Strategic Communication Advisor on developing a content strategy.  
  • Jointly responsible with the Strategic Communication Advisor to prepare, organise and supervise the implementation of complex communication campaigns.    
  • Coach and elevate your direct colleagues within the Erasmus Research Services (ERS) team on content creation and support their communication activities.

Requirements

You are a perfect candidate if you... 

  • Are passionate about the impact of research and love creating impactful (visual) content. 
  • Have a deep knowledge of social media and can create compelling content for online and offline communication.  
  • Knows the best communication strategy to reach out to the right target audiences; 
  • Are comfortable working with Adobe and digital platforms, such as Twitter, LinkedIn and CMS (Drupal). Experience with video editing is a plus. 
  • Have proven experience in organizing impactful events. 
  • Demonstrate clear and effective visual, verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Love advising your direct colleagues within the team on their communication activities and content creation.  
  • Are comfortable working independently (remotely) as well as collaboratively. 
  • Are creative, innovative and have a hands-on mindset. 
  • Are fluent in English (native or C1 level) and you - preferably - have a good understanding of the Dutch language. 

Conditions of employment

An internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).  

In accordance with the conditions applied at Erasmus University Rotterdam as indicated in the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO NU) of the Dutch universities, the salary is dependent on the candidate’s experience and is set at a maximum of CAO NU scale 10 with a minimum of € 2.836,- and a maximum of €4.474,- gross per month, on a fulltime basis. In addition, EUR pays an 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year payment of 8.3% and offers excellent secondary benefits, like a very generous leave scheme. Furthermore, EUR is affiliated with ABP for the pension provision and we offer partially paid parental leave. Employees can also use EUR facilities, such as the Erasmus sports center and the University library.  

EUR offers a Dual Career Programme (DCP) to assist the life partners of new academic staff (on pay-roll) in finding employment in The Netherlands. The programme is offered in close cooperation with nearby universities of Delft and Leiden.

Erasmus Research Services (ERS)

Erasmus Research Services (ERS) advances excellent research and knowledge transfer to maximize positive societal impact. ERS supports researchers to perform excellent research and to generate impact with their research. The support of ERS is defined as progressive and forward looking and drives a future-oriented university wide research and impact agenda. The following areas of support are embedded within ERS: Business Development, Grant Support, Legal Counsels, Open Science, Research Data Management, Ethics Review and Research Intelligence. ERS is a relatively young service department within Erasmus University Rotterdam and is steadily building and extending its service portfolio. ERS provides support to all faculties of Erasmus University Rotterdam (occasionally to Erasmus University Medical Center).
