The University Library (UB) of Erasmus University Rotterdam is looking for a policy officer with a legal background. Copyrights and privacy legislation have become increasingly important in the development of our library services. Additionally, we receive more and more questions from researchers and teachers on these subjects. With your legal knowledge you will contribute to the development of our digital portfolio.

Job description

  • You are a Policy Officer in the staff department of the University Library. You advise the management team in the development of our digital portfolio;
  • You draft policy notes and write policy texts as input provided by the library for university-wide documents. In doing so, you collaborate with the department of Academic Affairs at the General Administration Office (ABD) of the University;
  • You act as privacy officer for the library; you will undertake data process assessments for new services and work closely with the university's privacy organization.
  • You assist with other legal issues, for example, as a backup for the copyright information point.

Requirements

  • A people’s person, who knows how to connect, with a sense of political-administrative relations and a healthy dose of humor;
  • A completed education in law at HBO+ level;
  • Analytical skills and a fluent pen;
  • Oral and written command of both the Dutch and English languages at C1 level, or the willingness to develop this within a reasonably foreseeable period.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year with the possibility of a fixed employment contract.

We offer a dynamic and pleasant working environment with room for own initiative, a lot of personal responsibility and a flexible workplace. The start date of this position is as soon as possible and you will be based at the University Library in Rotterdam. This contract can, in case of positive assessment and unchanged organizational circumstances, be turned into a fixed employment contract. The position is for 1.0 FTE. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of €2.836,- to a maximum of €4.474 gross per month on a fulltime basis, in accordance with scale 10 of the CAO-NU.

In addition, the EUR offers good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU). We offer an 8% holiday allowance, an end-of-year payment of 8.3%, and a very generous paid leave scheme. Staff

The library staff is a small team consisting of a communications advisor, a management assistant, and the director of the Library, who also manages the team. You will work extensively with the department heads, as well as with colleagues who are running our library services and the faculty liaisons. Outside of the Library, you work primarily with the central privacy organization and the Academic Affairs department within the General Administration Office. In addition, the Library is part of a national and international library network.
