Job description

As Junior Consultant/Analyst you will contribute to our policy consultancy projects for (semi) public clients in the Netherlands, Europe and beyond. You will join our team in a wide variety of projects, such as:

  • Evaluating research and technology organisations, such as TNO, NWO & KNAW
  • Studying the potential of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Africa
  • Studying vaccine misinformation in Europe
  • Leading the EU Initiative of developing a ‘Blue Economy’ Network and Roadmap
  • Leading the Intelligent Cities Challenge for the European Commission
  • Advising the Dutch Government on their investment strategy in Key Enabling Technologies
  • Developing an R&D strategy for the Irish Medtech sector

Your responsibilities

  • Execution of analyses for projects in the area of science, technology and innovation policy for our clients, of high quality and within time and budget.
  • Application of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Design of data collection strategies and collecting and analysing data and statistics (using Excel, STATA, R or Python).
  • Design, implementation and analysis of surveys and interviews.
  • Broader policy analysis based on desk review.
  • Supporting the organisation of policy workshops.
  • Writing reports and visualising data.
  • Contributing to the acquisition of new projects (business development and sales).
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes and working methods.
  • Contributing to a good atmosphere within Technopolis.
  • Sharing the responsibility for your own professional development.

Requirements

Your profile

  • Affinity with science, technology and innovation policy in the Netherlands and Europe.
  • A wide interest in technology & innovation and the application thereof in areas such as health & life sciences, green economy, higher education, digitalisation, entrepreneurship and regional clusters. 
  • Good command of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods.
  • A relevant academic education at Master's level, preferably in the social sciences or a combination of beta-gamma sciences, for example innovation sciences, engineering and policy analysis, economics, econometrics, political science, and public administration.
  • Sensitivity to policy processes and the ability to look at them analytically.
  • Excellent level of English (spoken and written). Working level proficiency of Dutch is a strong advantage. Proficiency in other languages is an additional advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills: oral and written. 
  • Sense for working in a commercial environment with a customer-friendly but critical approach and an eye for both quality and deadlines.
  • A pleasant colleague with an intellectually curious and committed attitude.
  • 0-3 years of working experience.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year, with a view to a permanent position.

  • A pleasant working atmosphere in a small team of about 40 professionals, part of a larger international group (10 countries with in total 220+ staff).
