As Project Controller, you will be responsible for part of the faculty's portfolio. Your job consists largely of financial aspects with a very diverse range of contacts and issues. For example, one moment you are dealing with various questions from your colleagues about budget possibilities and the next moment you are dealing with a question about external grants for a research project.
You like to analyse, can make forecasts and know how to give well-considered and critical advice. For you, seeing the overall financial picture is not a problem.

Job description

In order to advise others properly, you carry out analyses, draw up forecasts and you are the person who prepares project files for possible audits. You like to talk to our scientists and other stakeholders about the projects, the realisation, the specifics and advise them so they can make a well-considered choice.

You thrive in a financial setting and can put your proactive work attitude and solution-oriented mindset to good use. You see it as a challenge to work together with your colleagues to further expand and professionalise the service.

Most common tasks:

  • Performing project control work of 1st, 2nd and 3rd funding projects;
  • Translating applicable grant conditions into requirements for the implementation of projects;
  • Preparing financial reports for project leaders and the Financial and Business Controller;
  • Monitoring the project portfolio and timekeeping and identifying financial risks within this;
  • Ensuring good coordination between the various internal stakeholders;
  • Drawing up final accounts towards the subsidy providers and if necessary coordinating with the internal auditor;
  • Contributing to the further development of project control within the university.

Requirements

  • You have a higher professional education level in the field of (business) economics, business administration or accountancy;
  • You have excellent specialist knowledge of financial processes and preferably have gained experience in a (scientific) educational institution;
  • You have at least 1 year of knowledge and experience with internal control and administrative organisation methodology;
  • You enjoy getting to grips with financial issues and Excel holds few secrets for you;
  • You have strong communication skills and a customer-oriented attitude;
  • You have strong analytical skills and are above all a team player;
  • You have good oral and written communication skills in both Dutch and English (demonstrable B2-level according to CEF)
  • Self-managing and stress-resistant.

Conditions of employment

An internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with excellent terms of employment in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

The employment contract is concluded for a period of one year and can be converted into a permanent employment contract in the event of good performance and unchanged organisational conditions. The position is based at Campus Woudestein - Rotterdam, at the Control Department of Erasmus School of Economics and has a scope of 0.8 fte - 1 fte. The salary depends on your knowledge and experience and amounts to between € 2,960 and € 4,670 gross per month (Scale 10) for full-time employment, in accordance with the CAO-NU. We also offer you, among other things, 8% holiday allowance, a year-end bonus of 8.3% and a very generous leave scheme. Furthermore, EUR is affiliated to ABP for its pension scheme and we offer partially paid parental leave, fully paid additional birth leave for partners and a personal career budget.
