Job description

The Project Manager YUFE Virtual Campus is responsible for the development and implementation of various new functionalities in the digital platform that has partly been developed already within the ‘Young Universities for the Future of Europe’ Alliance.  The YUFE Virtual Campus is the digital space where our students, staff and citizens will find all relevant information and tools for their involvement in the activities of the Alliance.  In the coming years, the Project Manager YUFE Virtual Campus will continue to build this digital space to completion, together with our Alliance partners all over Europe.

Maastricht University leads the Virtual Campus work package as part of the ‘YUFE 2030’ project, financed by the European Commission under the European Universities Initiative. 

The project has just entered a second phase, which will run until December 2026.

As Project Manager YUFE Virtual Campus you will:

  • Lead the various tasks in this work package towards completion in close cooperation with colleagues of all participating partner universities and non-academic partners;
  • Select the tooling for data analytics and oversee the implementation of this for all work packages in the YUFE project;
  • Oversee the implementation of a cybersecure environment for the Virtual Campus;
  • Catalogue the back office applications and implement a pilot for the Student Journey end-to –end, together with the leading partner for this; 
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day lead of the internal YUFE UM ICT- team that is dedicated to the relevant tasks at Maastricht University;
  • Build the bridge between UM way of working (Lean, Agile) and the partners’ processes;
  • Act as sparring partner for work package leads from all disciplines, prioritising and structuring the work that needs to be done;
  • Act as the main contact partner for YUFE ICT activities internally at UM 
  • Be responsible for budget control and results;
  • Work closely together with your colleagues in the internal UM YUFE team.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a proactive, diplomatic and goal-oriented individual with a hands-on mentality who is highly adaptable. We are looking for a motivated self-starter equipped with excellent project management and intercultural communication skills, who is able to quickly become well-connected to the relevant units of Maastricht University.

The successful candidate has:

  • A strong ability to provide structure and lead the way in this extensive transformational effort in a Higher Education Institute;
  • An academic qualification (MA degree or equivalent) or equivalent professional experience in international project management (> 7 years);
  • Affinity with IT systems and structures in (Higher) Education;
  • The ability to coordinate intercultural and interdisciplinary teams including stakeholders from other partners; 
  • An open and an inclusive approach to international cooperation; 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills in English and preferably in one other European language;
  • Resilience and ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.

Fixed-term contract: 1 year with the possibility for an extension, based on a positive assessment.
