Are you an enthusiastic teacher of strategic management? Do you inspire your students to make a positive impact on business and society? Then you could be RSM’s next lecturer in the department of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship.

Job description

As (junior) lecturer of MSc strategic management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), you are the face of the department for many master students. To deliver high-quality instruction and engage with students, you realise that this role requires frequent physical presence on RSM's Woudestein campus.

Throughout our autumn MSc core courses, yours is a highly visible and interactive role in teaching seminar sessions. For each of the theory-driven large-scale lectures (300+ students) taught by our staff, you provide an accompanying small-scale seminar session for roughly 75 students in which you lead them in the discussion and application of strategic management principles. In your lectures, you facilitate group discussions and activities that encourage student participation and collaboration. You foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that empowers students to succeed academically and personally, and you collaborate in the core team to ensure a seamless and cohesive educational experience for your students.

In the spring, when the core courses end, master students select a research theme for their graduate thesis that interests them and aligns with their academic and career goals. It's then that you coach each of your students as they write their thesis. You assist them in developing research questions, methodology, data analysis, writing and other aspects of the thesis process as they all work toward delivering high-quality MSc theses.

Your full portfolio of teaching duties is rounded out with other activities, such as coaching BSc internships, assisting in the grading of various courses at the BSc or MSc level, or coordinating student assistants. Where possible, these activities may align with your interests, expertise and/or background. For instance, if you have a background in strategy consulting, you'll have the opportunity to teach or co-teach elective courses on that topic in the spring.

Your main tasks
In this role you:
  • Teach small-scale seminars
  • Coach MSc students in writing their theses
Teach, depending on experience, an elective course on strategic management consulting in the spring
