If so, you are the Innovation Manager / Business Developer Culture & Creativity we are looking for.

Job description
As Innovation Manager / Business Developer Culture & Creativity, you take a leading role in creating and managing relationships between Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) and external partners in the creative and cultural sector (organisations, companies, entrepreneurs, other social, governmental and academic partners). You work outside-in as much as possible. You work proactively with potential partners in the region, in the Netherlands and internationally to identify common interests. With a fresh and innovative outlook, you actively seek opportunities to further develop the Culture & Creativity ecosystem in cooperation with those external partners and with the EUR academic community.

Erasmus University Rotterdam develops a number of large-scale local, regional and European initiatives around Culture & Creativity. These include the Culture & Campus, one of the European Bauhaus initiatives, the recently launched European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) consortium in the field of Culture & Creativity, Rotterdam Arts & Sciences Lab (RASL) and the arts institute. It is your job to build on the joint strengths of these initiatives and create a coherent ecosystem around education, research and engagement.

As innovation manager/business developer, you have a transdisciplinary focus. Together with partners, Erasmus University strives for an integrated approach to the major societal issues of our time. Erasmus University strongly believes that transdisciplinary cooperation between academic institutions, such as our partners Erasmus Medical Centre and Delft University of Technology, and societal partners will strengthen our impact mission.

Your main responsibilities are:
  • Strategically linking Erasmus University's Culture & Creativity initiatives;
  • Initiating activities that further strengthen the ecosystem in the field of transdisciplinary research, education and engagement on the Culture & Creativity theme;
  • (proactively) connecting organisations, business and other societal partners with Erasmus University; Build and maintain a broad network within the university, with other academic institutions, civil society partners, businesses and entrepreneurs;
  • Finding funding opportunities with social and business partners, where necessary through strategic use of regional, national, European or other grants;
  • Translate knowledge from the EUR community to interested parties into opportunities for entrepreneurship.

Requirements

You have proven experience in working as an intermediary between research & development and implementation partners (organisations or companies). With at least 5 years of experience in relation to the cultural and creative sector, you have a relevant network in the private sector and at public institutions. You can activate and expand this network with a view to creating a public-private ecosystem around Culture & Creativity.

Other experience and skills required are:
  • Academic thinking and working level;
  • Ability to act as a trusted sparring partner for top scientists and decision-makers from social partners and business;
  • Ability to quickly grasp and address complex problems;
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial, hands-on, flexible and open attitude;
  • Good social skills, a keen eye for different interests/motivations;
  • Excellent communication skills (Dutch and English, at least CEFR C1).

Conditions of employment

An internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).

The start date of this position is 01-MAY-2023 and you will be based at the Campus Woudestein - Rotterdam, located at Erasmus Research Services (ERS). The position is for 0,8 fte - 1 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 5.506 to a maximum of € 6.702 gross per month on a fulltime basis, in accordance with Scale 13 of the CAO-NU. In addition, we offer an 8% holiday allowance, an end-of-year payment of 8.3%, and a very generous paid leave scheme. Furthermore, EUR is affiliated with ABP for the pension provision, and we offer partially paid parental leave, fully paid extended birth leave for partners, a personal career budget, work-life balance coaches, discounted collective health insurance, and more. As an employee, you can also use EUR facilities such as the University library and receive a discount on subscriptions for the Erasmus sports center.
