Job description

As a tutor you guide tutorial groups of first or second year students. In a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) environment the tutor is not a teacher in the traditional sense, but a guide. You observe and analyze the group process in the background, you direct or guide if necessary by using questions, examples or advice instead of giving instructions or information directly. You consider it a challenge to help students understand the material and to encourage their academic thinking.

These are your activities two days a week for half a day or a full day, depending on your contractual hours. You are responsible for one or two tutorial groups and these groups convene throughout the year on fixed times. The first year tutorial meetings will be on Monday and Thursday whereas the second year tutorial meetings will be on Tuesday and Friday. Additionally, you will be a practical skills trainer during the course-related practicals. These practicals (such as an introduction to psychodiagnostics, psychological communication, training trainers) are on Wednesday or Thursday. Doing research is not part of your position.

Tutor training

In preparation of your duties and responsibilities, you will participate in a tutor training in week 34 or 35 (August). For those familiar with PBL (as student or teacher), please inform us in your letter of application. The preparatory tutor training is then only 2 days.
