Job description

This PhD position will be 1 of 6 in the Joint Solar Programme 3 that is intended to conduct fundamental and applied research needed for Si-perovskite tandem solar cells. This particular position will focus on designing and implementing advanced contacts for both the perovskite and Si solar cells. This will likely include monocrystalline metal nanowire transparent electrodes, reflective back contacts and carrier selective layers. The project will involve both theoretical and experimental work, including full device optical/electrical simulations, nanostructure synthesis/fabrication and device integration. There will be close collaborations with other groups at AMOLF, Eindhoven and Delft working on other aspects of the tandem solar cells.

Research

The Nanoscale Solar Cells group synthesizes advanced metal and semiconducting nanostructures, characterizes their material properties and integrates them into novel device structures with the aim of improving our fundamental understanding of light absorption, charge separation, recombination and transport at the nanometer scale.
